Ed Sheeran scores first US No. 1 album

UK singer/songwriter Ed Sheeran has scored his first No. 1 US album with “X” ("Multiply").

Billboard reports the project sold 210,000 in its opening week to debut atop the Billboard 200.

Sheeran’s sophomore record is the follow-up to the smash 2011 debut, “+”, which peaked at No. 5 on the chart and has since gone on to sell 841,000 copies to date.

The album’s lead single, “Sing”, was issued earlier this spring.
