Nelly Furtado inspires with Spirit Indestructible lyric video

Nelly Furtado has released a very special lyric video for her new song, “Spirit Indestructible.”

The tune is the title track to her forthcoming album “The Spirit Indestructible,” which is set to arrive on September 18.

The video features the inspiring story of Spencer West, a double amputee who climbed Mount Kilimanjaro last month using only his hands.

“Spencer has just finished an incredible climb up Mount Kilimanjaro to raise awareness and financial support for clean water projects in Africa,” writes Furtado. “Spencer is a true hero who knows how to ‘redefine his possible’ every day. I wrote this song in tribute to humanity, as I believe we are all capable of triumphing over whatever obstacle life brings. The spirit indestructible is in all of us. People like Spencer have proven this to me.”

"Spirit Indestructible is amazing and has such a powerful message,” says West. “I am extremely humbled to be featured along side of such a inspirational song. The clips that were chosen for the lyrics are awesome and although its only been a few weeks, seeing them brought back so many memories from our climb!"

Nelly Furtado is making waves with her new single, “Big Hoops (The Bigger the Better).”

It’s the lead track from her forthcoming album "The Spirit Indestructible," which is due for release in September.

The new project is the follow-up to the Nelly’s 2009′s Spanish-language album “Mi Plan,” and includes collaborations with Rodney Jerkins, Bob Rock, Tiesto, John Shanks and Da Genius.

“I began writing these songs around the time I released my Spanish album ‘Mi Plan,’” said Furtado. “I was in a great head space, feeling refreshed and ready to really deliver in English again. This album is all about positivity, youth, good energy, and the relentlessness of the spirit. I want people to live this music the way we did when we wrote it.
I want them to jump, dance, scream, laugh, cry, love, and vibe to it, and to turn it up very loud everywhere.”

Furtado has offered up another new song from the project: “Something” features a guest appearance by Nas.

Nelly Furtado: New album due next summer

Nelly Furtado has some great news for fans.

“It's official: Album out for summer. : ) and I'll be out on the road promoting it for at least 2 years cuz I love it!” the singer tweeted on Wednesday.

This album follows "Mi Plan", her first Spanish language studio album and her first hits record "The Best of Nelly Furtado."

Furtado celebrated her 33rd birthday earlier this week.

Last month, Nelly judged 'Mount Doug Idol', a singing competition held by the Alumni association of her high school in her hometown, Victoria, British Columbia.

The talent show marked the closing event for the nine-day long celebration of the Mount Douglas Secondary School 80th anniversary. The five finalists, narrowed down from over 100 alumni contestants, performed for Nelly, fellow judge music producer David Foster and the Victorian audience.
