Alanis Morissette covers Green Day on Jimmy Kimmel

Alanis Morissette filled in for Green Day with a performance on Jimmy Kimmel’s show Wednesday night.

Green Day have shut down live appearances and promotions for their newly-released album, “Uno,” after singer Billie Joe Armstrong entered rehab following his on stage meltdown in Las Vegas last Friday night.

“Billie Joe is seeking treatment for substance abuse,” posted the band on Sunday. “We would like everyone to know that our set was not cut short by Clear Channel and to apologize to those we offended at the iHeartRadio Festival in Las Vegas. We regretfully must postpone some of our upcoming promotional appearances.”

Morissette stepped in to appear on Kimmel’s program; she’s currently on a North American tour in support of her new album, “Havoc and Bright Lights.”

Alanis performed her current single, “Guardian,” as well as a cover of Green Day’s “Basket Case,” which she finished by saying “We love you, Billie Joe.”

Adele’s success is truly international, as the UK singer’s “21” album made her a household name.

The latest viral video making the rounds demonstrates the impact and influence Adele is having with fans and fellow musicians around the globe.

“Rolling in the Deep” has been covered on YouTube more than 350,000 times.

Now, a fan has created a compilation of 71 of the best performances and put them together in one video – maybe you or someone you know made the final cut.

Adele's "21" has reached its 16th week at #1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart, its reign the longest since the "Titanic" soundtrack also earned 16 weeks at the top in 1998.

Billboard reports "21" is one of only five sets to notch at least 16 weeks atop the list since SoundScan's sales data began powering the Billboard 200 in May of 1991.

2Cellos to perform on Glee’s Michael Jackson tribute episode

2Cellos are set to make their debut on Glee as part of the Michael Jackson episode on January 31.

They will perform their signature version of "Smooth Criminal" with Santana (Naya Rivera) and Sebastian (Grant Gustin) in the show's special tribute to the "King of Pop."

2Cellos Luka Sulic and Stjepan Hauser - first caught the attention of music fans around the globe with their dueling cellos version of Michael's "Smooth Criminal," which went on to receive more than 5 million hits on YouTube in less than 3 months.

The Glee performance will emulate their self-made music video of the Jackson classic, the song that subsequently lead to a record deal with Sony and a slot on tour opening for Elton John.

This is the first time that the show has featured an instrumental group as their guest artist.

"It is such an honor to participate in one of TV's biggest shows!" says Luka Sulic, "And performing a song by our idol Michael Jackson makes it that much more special," adds Stjepan Hauser.

Their self-titled debut album was released this summer and features Sulic & Hauser's unique spin on hits by Michael Jackson, Guns N' Roses, U2, Coldplay and Kings Of Leon, among others.

2Cellos are currently on a worldwide tour with Sir Elton John.

VIDEO: Cee Lo Green changes lyrics to John Lennon’s Imagine

During his New Year’s Eve performance of John Lennon’s “Imagine” in Times Square, Cee Le Green took the liberty of changing one of the key lines in the song.

Instead of singing the original lyrics, “Nothing to kill or die for / And no religion too,” Green switched it up as “Nothing to kill or die for / And all religion’s true.”

Green’s version dramatically changes the intent of the legendary song, and music fans aren’t happy about it.

”Yo I meant no disrespect by changing the lyric guys!” Green tweeted. “I was trying to say a world were [sic] u could believe what u wanted that’s all.”

Cee Lo responded directly to other angry Lennon fans on Twitter, but has since deleted all of the tweets.

It is “rock week” on singing contest show The X Factor, as the series does a token nod to rock.

Sounds like the show was pretty up and down in terms of quality, but there’s a lot of buzz about Josh Krajcik’s performance of "The Pretender" by the Foo Fighters.

Krajcik is on judge Nicole Scherzinger’s team, and the Pussycat Doll is seen rocking her brains out during the performance.

The results show airs Thursday night (tonight) to whittle down the final 10 singers to 9 heading into the next stage of the contest for a recording contract and a tv commercial.

“The question is ‘Can you sell records? And can you sell tickets?’”
L.A. Reid asked. “And the answer is: you can!”
