The Voice announces return of Christina Aguilera & Cee Lo Green

NBC’s hugely successful series The Voice has announced the return of coaches Christina Aguilera and Cee Lo Green.

The pair, who took this season off to work on music projects, will rejoin the program for its fall 2013 run.

Shakira and Usher are currently filling the coaches seats temporarily vacated by Aguilera and Green.

The rookie mentors will be back again for the fifth season of The Voice next winter, when the show will receive plenty of promotion during NBC’s coverage of the February Winter Olympics from Sochi, Russia.

The current cycle of The Voice is averaging a 5.2 rating, 14 share in adults 18-49 and 14.5 million viewers overall on Monday nights, making it the season’s #3 primetime series on ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox in adults 18-49, as well as the #2 entertainment series and the #1 reality series, according to “most current” results from Nielsen Media Research.

The Tuesday edition is averaging a 4.7/14 in 18-49 and 13.4 million viewers overall, making it the #4 entertainment series on in 18-49. Every telecast of “The Voice” so far this cycle, excluding recap episodes, has won its time period in adults 18-49.

Cee Lo Green releases video for Only You

Cee Lo Green has released the video for his new single, “Only You” ft. Lauriana Mae.

The song is the lead track from Green’s forthcoming fourth album, “Everybody's Brother.”

The Ethan Lader-directed clip features rising singer Lauriana Mae as Green's duet partner. The visual shows the two walking around a swirly city that's folding in on itself, like a less scary Inception.

Wednesday night, Green launched his Las Vegas show, “Loberace,” at the Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino.

The residency was originally schedule to launch last August, but Cee Lo was forced to postpone the show due to a scheduling conflict with his work on NBC’s The Voice.

Shakira, Usher to replace Christina Aguilera & Cee Lo Green on The Voice

Just as NBC’s The Voice launches its third season, the show has announced a major shakeup for season 4.

The Voice will add Usher and Shakira as new celebrity musician coaches when it returns next spring.

Christina Aguilera, who is releasing a new album and going on tour, and Cee Lo Green, who is developing new music plus a scripted comedy series for NBC based on his life, will take the next season off.

Current coaches Adam Levine of Maroon 5 and Blake Shelton will remain through season four.

"Being a coach on 'The Voice' is a wonderful experience and the relationship amongst us all is like an extended family," said Aguilera. "I am so proud of being part of the show from the beginning, all the work we've done, and proud of what the show stands for as a whole. As I have expressed since day one of the show, that I am a singer and performer first and I am so excited to get back to that love. Since this year NBC and 'The Voice' have decided to tape back-to-back seasons, requiring a full-year commitment, it is important for me to take season four off, allowing me to support my music that my fans have been waiting for -- with the release of my new album 'Lotus' on November 13. By pursuing my first passion of music during the break, I am also able to come back and offer even more to my team on 'The Voice' in the future."

"First ...thank you NBC for supporting my decision to take this season four hiatus!,” said Green. “It says that I'm seen and respected as a complete artist and not just a cast member. I'm highly enthusiastic about focusing my undivided attention on my additional endeavors and interests like my upcoming solo album, new Goodie Mob album, Las Vegas residency 'Loberace,' new memoir, and new NBC comedy. It's great to also give a host of other talent the chance to experience what a joy it is to be part of what is truly THE BEST SHOW of them all, THE VOICE! I will return for season five and will be watching season four. NBC is home and as far as Usher and Shakira are concerned - 'mi casa su casa.'"

Cee Lo Green postpones Las Vegas residency

Cee Lo Green has postponed his upcoming Las Vegas residency due to a scheduling conflict with his work on The Voice.

Green was due to launch his "Loberace" show on August 29 at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino on the Las Vegas Strip.

The production has now been postponed until next year.

“It's always been a dream of mine to be among the great music legends who have had a Las Vegas residency and I was very much looking forward to launching ‘Loberace’ this year,” said Green. “But, as we move into the third season of The Voice, with my dedicated commitment to the filming schedule and love for my role on the show, I will need to postpone the opening of ‘Loberace’ to early 2013. Most importantly, to all my fans who have already purchased tickets, please accept my sincerest apology and I hope you can still join me in Vegas next year, so I can properly and finally introduce you to my brainchild, ‘Loberace’! Thank you for your patience and understanding.”

Shows will now begin February 27, 2013 – tickets for the new dates go on sale August 1.

"The production will combine Cee Lo's flamboyant sense of style and over-the-top creativity," producers said in a statement, adding that the show "will be as inspired and visually alive as Cee Lo Green."

Organizers say the show will include a musical journey through time, with tributes to Prince and the Rolling Stones. "Mind-twisting magic and sexified showgirls" are also on tap.

Season 3 of The Voice begins airing in September.

Cee Lo Green announces Las Vegas residency

Cee Lo Green has announced his plans to take over Las Vegas this year.

Billboard reports Green will launch his semi-permanent show, "Loberace," August 29 at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino on the Las Vegas Strip, and run at least through the end of the year.

The 37-year-old Green, known for his soulful voice and extravagant costumes, is a coach on the NBC show "The Voice." His break came in the mid-1990s in the southern rap scene, but has evolved to include Gnarls Barkley, a collaboration between him and DJ-producer Danger Mouse, and his 2010 solo album "The Lady Killer."

The 28 shows through the end of December are scheduled for late nights, and some follow Planet Hollywood's "Peepshow" production in the 1,400-seat theater.

Cee Lo Green writing his memoirs

Cee Lo Green is writing his autobiography.

Billboard reports Grand Central Books announced it had signed the multi-platinum star to write a book about his life to be published in 2013.

In a statement Green said, "FORGET YOU? After reading my book, there will be no doubt that I am meant to be. You will enter into the supernatural, the surreal, and extraordinary. As Cee Lo Green, a.k.a. 'everybody's brother,' I will make you a believer. I talk about art imitating life; YOU discover CRAZY."

David Wild, the Rolling Stone contributing editor and television writer, will co-author the book. Singing partner Big Gipp will also contribute "insights" about Green.

"He dresses in sequined capes, performs with the Muppets and Madonna, and does 360° flips with a grand piano at his fingertips. Imagine all that outrageously unique and creative talent channeled into a book," raved Beth de Guzman, Vice-President and Editor-in-Chief of Paperbacks at Grand Central Publishing who acquired the book.

Green is currently in his second season on the NBC's "The Voice." As a musician, he is part of Gnarls Barkley and the Goodie Mob. He has won five Grammy awards, including for Best Traditional R&B Performance and Best R&B Song in 2012.

Cee Lo recently joined Madonna for her Super Bowl Halftime show.

Madonna’s been tight-lipped about her upcoming Super Bowl halftime show performance, but others have been sharing news about it.

will.i.am of the Black Eyed Peas told Capital FM that LMFAO will be joining the pop icon on center stage.

Now, The Insider reports sources are telling them that The Voice coach Cee Lo Green is on board, as well.

“We're told, for the past two weeks, Cee Lo has been traveling to New York to practice with Madonna. And he is expected to bring a new sound to some of Madonna's classic hits!” says the site.

One of the most-watched musical shows of the year may be full of entertainers, as it’s expected that both Nicki Minaj and M.I.A. will be there...as they feature on Madonna's new single “Gimme All Yer Luvin’.”

The 2012 Super Bowl takes place at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis on Sunday, February 5.

VIDEO: The Voice returns with Christina Aguilera, Cee Lo Green and more

The Voice is getting set to return for its second season.

The singing competition enjoyed success in its first run, and now returns with host Carson Daly and vocal coaches Christina Aguilera, Cee Lo Green, Adam Levine and Blake Shelton.

NBC has release a preview video for the new season.

“In season 2,” says Daly, "you’re really going to see the foundation of everything that this show is built on pay dividends."

“The blind audition is the most exciting part of the show,” raves Maroon 5’s Adam Levine. “I don’t want to think about whether I am going to turn my chair around. I want to feel it.”

“I enjoy, so much, being a mentor and a coach to these amazingly talented people,” says Aguilera. As for her fellow panelists, Christina adds, “We laugh hard, we play hard, we fight hard but, in the end, we’re still a family.”

Season 2 of The Voice premieres on NBC after the Super Bowl on Sunday, February 5.

VIDEO: Cee Lo Green changes lyrics to John Lennon’s Imagine

During his New Year’s Eve performance of John Lennon’s “Imagine” in Times Square, Cee Le Green took the liberty of changing one of the key lines in the song.

Instead of singing the original lyrics, “Nothing to kill or die for / And no religion too,” Green switched it up as “Nothing to kill or die for / And all religion’s true.”

Green’s version dramatically changes the intent of the legendary song, and music fans aren’t happy about it.

”Yo I meant no disrespect by changing the lyric guys!” Green tweeted. “I was trying to say a world were [sic] u could believe what u wanted that’s all.”

Cee Lo responded directly to other angry Lennon fans on Twitter, but has since deleted all of the tweets.
