Lana Del Rey debuts on Billboard charts

Lana Del Rey has debuted on the US charts.

The singer’s “Born To Die” album enters the Billboard chart at #2 this week, with sales of 77,000 copies according to Neilsen Soundscan.

Billboardreports Del Rey has the highest entry for a female artist's full-length major label debut since Jackie Evancho's "Dream With Me" entered at #2 on July 2, 2011.

Del Rey’s riding a pop culture buzz these days, which began last year: her YouTube clips for “Video Games” has more than 26 million views on the popular site, while “Blue Jeans” has more than 7 million.

Lana’s recent appearance on Saturday Night Live stirred up debate over the singer’s ability due to a somewhat shaky performance and nervously awkward stage presence.

Del Rey rebounded with some strong performances on the BBC and David Letterman’s show.
