Justin Bieber, Kesha up for PETA Awards

Justin Bieber and Kesha are up for a PETA Award.

PETA – People For the Ethical Treatment Of Animals – has announced finalists for its 6th annual Libby Awards (“Libby” is for “liberation”).

peta2, PETA's youth division, is giving teens the opportunity to vote for their favorite animal-friendly stars. Visitors to peta2.com can vote for their favorites in each category, and peta2 will choose the winners.

In the category of Most Animal-Friendly Pop/Hip-Hop Artist, Justin Bieber, the star of a pro-adoption campaign, is up against Ke$ha, who campaigned against the Canadian seal slaughter, and even wrote a letter to McDonald's urging the fast-food chain to require its suppliers to adopt a less cruel method of slaughtering chickens. K-os and Waka Flocka Flame are also in the running.

Ke$ha is also up for Best Peta2 ad.

"Our nominees have all worked hard to shine their spotlights on a variety of important animal issues," says peta2 Division Manager Marta Holmberg. "As our accomplished stars demonstrate, compassion isn't just a virtue—it's also a road to success."

Twenty-nine Libby Awards will be given out this year, recognizing everything from the best cruelty-free cosmetics company to Street Teamer of the Year. Each winner will receive a framed certificate and be featured on peta2.com.

For more information about all the nominees and to vote for your favorite, visit peta2.com here.

Voting ends on December 23, and the winners will be announced on January 17.

The winners will be chosen by peta2 based on equal consideration of three factors: the number of votes received, the quality of the animal-friendly product or the nominees' enthusiasm for being animal-friendly, and feedback from the nominees' fans.
