Katy will host the December 10 program, along with music guest Robyn.
It will mark Katy’s debut as host; she was the music guest on last season’s premiere episode, hosted by long-time SNL cast member Amy Poehler.
Not only did the pop star sing a couple of songs, but she got in on the comedy fun by joining a few skits during the show.
Sunday night, Katy was presented with a special American Music Awards achievement honor by model Heidi Klum. Perry was honored for becoming the first woman in the history of pop music to have five No. 1 singles from one album.
Katy tweeted after the show:
“O’ what a night! Thanks for my amazing award AMA’S, nice company to be in with that one! Glad I could play my lil ol’ gitter for u tonight.”
