Katy Perry dress auction raises $8,000 for the Red Cross

Katy Perry has raised more than $8,000 for charity by selling off a stage outfit from her 2011 California Dreams world tour.

KGET-TV Bakersfield reports Perry raided her closet for international aid organization Red Cross and offered up a glittery red bodice encrusted with Swarovski crystals teamed with a billowing pink skirt for auction.

She also agreed to meet the winning bidder backstage at her gig this weekend in Oakland, California to personally hand over the outfit.

The lot generated several bids and when the sale closed on Wednesday, the winning offer stood at $8,100.

Perry has just released the video for “The One That Got Away,” the seventh single from her hugely successful “Teenage Dream” album.
