Justin Bieber becomes first to reach 2 billion YouTube views

On Monday, Justin Bieber set a new YouTube record, becoming the first person to have over 2 billion official views on the site.

Social media stats site Famecount reports that, to date, Justin has 37,080,001 facebook fans, 13,895,020 twitter followers and 1,049,519 Official YouTube Subscribers. In an average month, Bieber’s YouTube site gets a massive 93,614,637 views.

The Bieber phenomenon started in 2007 when his mom uploaded videos of the 12 year old singing, it quickly went viral, and before you could say "Baby Baby," the young star was discover by US manager Scooter Braun and signed by Usher and Island Records.

Thanks to the powers of social media, a star was born.

Last year, Lady Gaga became the first to reach 1 billion views on YouTube. With Justin on top, and Gaga now in second, it’s Rihanna in third with 1,709,644,915 views.

Only a few months ago, Rihanna was the first female artist to topple Lady Gaga on Facebook, but Eminem remains on top with 48,455,197 facebook fans.

Bieber’s new album, “Under The Mistletoe,” has just been released.
