Coldplay to earn $1.5 million for New Year’s Eve show

Coldplay will be making some big bucks for playing New Year’s Eve.

The Daily Express reports the band will earn £1 million ($1.5 million) for their show in the United Arab Emirates.

Crown Prince Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan has hired Coldplay to perform at the Volvo Ocean Race venue in Abu Dhabi on Saturday.

Guitarist Jonny Buckland admits he is excited to play in the Middle East after he was treated like royalty during his last visit.

"I've never stayed anywhere like the hotel they put me in, and probably never will again,” said Buckland. “It made Buckingham Palace look like a two-bed semi."

Premium tickets to the event cost £4,300 ($6,600)
