Katy Perry faces indecency charge in India

Katy Perry is facing an indecency charge in India following a concert in the country back in April.

The West Australian reports a complaint about a playful on-stage appearance by Perry with Aussie cricketer Doug Bollinger in Chennai earlier this year will go before an Indian court later this month.

Though the pair has not been formerly charged, their saucy on-stage interaction at the opening of the Indian Premier League in April – where Bollinger was seen with his arms around Perry as he demonstrated a cricket bat move – has since been viewed as over the top by one member of the Indian public.

The complaint is believed to have been filed by a lawyer who claims to be acting on the public's behalf and alleges the opening of the show was "obscene and lascivious" and "distracted students who were writing exams at the time."

[Ed note: were they writing exams at the concert?]

The complaint is due to be heard in court on July 31; neither Perry nor Bollinger are required to attend the court hearing.
