Mariah Carey announces European tour

Mariah Carey has announced dates for a spring 2016 tour of Europe.

The “Sweet Sweet Fantasy Tour” opens in Glasgow, Scotland on March 15, with shows scheduled to end April 23 in Amsterdam before two concerts in South Africa in early May.

A presale for Carey’s official online fan community, Honey B. Fly, will begin on December 15.

Tickets for the South African shows will be available December 17 at 9am local time, the Copenhagen date on sale starts December 17 at 10am local, and seats for the rest of the European concerts will go on general sale from 9am on Friday December 18.

"I'm calling it the Sweet, Sweet Fantasy tour,” Carey tells Lorraine. “I wanted to give people some nostalgia - so that title is from my song Fantasy obviously. The fans can expect lots of songs - I'm going to research what songs were big in what territories and then I'm going to sing those songs especially for those fans.

"I'm just trying to put on a really good show that people are going to enjoy and be close to the fans. Not everyone is so close to their fans but I have a very special relationship with my fans. I love all things pertaining to music and creativity ... everything is fun for me but I love being on stage."

The shows will follow the end of Carey’s Las Vegas residency at Caesar’s Palace and mark the singer’s first European tour since 2003.

Mariah Carey issues second preview of Infinity video

Mariah Carey has issued a second preview of the upcoming video for “Infinity”, the single from the newly-released greatest hits compilation, “#1 To Infinity.”

The singer performed the track on Sunday as part of the 2015 Billboard Music Awards in Las Vegas and again on Jimmy Kimmel Live on Monday.

The collection features all 18 of the singer’s No. 1 hits on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart – more than any solo artist in history.

After launching her Las Vegas residency at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace earlier this month, the singer was forced to cancel a May 14 show over health issues.

“Hey guys,” she posted, “I've been fighting bronchitis for the past few days. Almost better but on mandatory vocal rest per doctor's orders. I'm so sorry to cancel but I promise to make it up to you!!!”

Mariah confirmed the news via a tweet from her publicist: "W/ global success of 'Beautiful' (#1 in 30+ countries so far) @MariahCarey confirms world tour & says goodbye 2 Idol."

Carey’s representatives said the singer has a "jam-packed" scheduled that includes "putting the finishing touches on her much anticipated forthcoming album, headlining the Macy's 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular and appearing in Lee Daniel's The Butler, opening in August." The film's cast also includes Oprah Winfrey, Forest Whitaker, Vanessa Redgrave, Jane Fonda, Cuba Gooding Jr. and Lenny Kravitz.

Mariah world tour is scheduled to kick off this October in Asia.

Mariah Carey records song for Wizard Of Oz prequel

Mariah Carey has recorded the song, “Almost Home,” for “Oz The Great and Powerful,” the highly anticipated fantastical Disney adventure, directed by Sam Raimi, due in theaters on March 8.

“Almost Home” will be released as a single on February 19.

Award-winning photographer/director David LaChapelle will direct Carey in the music video for “Almost Home.” The two long-time collaborators are reuniting in what LaChapelle describes as “a duet between Mariah and the movie.” LaChapelle photographed Carey previously for album covers, and directed her in the music video “Loverboy.”

“’Almost Home’ has a message that works beautifully with the film,” says Mariah. “It’s a feel-good record; it gives you the feeling of reaching your home and being with people that you love.”

Mariah Carey hires extra security after Nicki Minaj incident

A potentially explosive situation on the set of American Idol this week between Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj has gone very public.

Video of a feud between the new Idol judges during auditions for the new season was leaked early this week, with Minaj challenging and swearing at Carey as the two egos clashed on the set.

Things boiled over when Minaj was heard saying to Mariah, “if you say one more disrespectful thing to me…off with your head!”

Now, Mariah tells Barbara Walters of The View that she has hired extra security to handle Minaj

“Just before we went on the air, I called Mariah,” said Walters. “She said that what you heard was troublesome, but that’s not what really worried her. She said that that when Nicki walked off the set, multiple people heard Nicki say, ‘If I had a gun, I would shoot that bitch.’”

"She said she is very concerned. She is with her twins," Walters says. "She doesn't feel that anything would happen. I'm quoting now, 'But Nicki is unpredictable' and Mariah says she can't take a chance and she has hired extra security."

“Nicki has not apologized but they have since been together at meetings with producers and judges,” continued Walters. “There was a meeting yesterday morning; after the meeting, Nicki said to Mariah, ‘I love you, but we might fight again.’ Mariah responded, ‘No, we will not.’

“At this point, Mariah said she doesn't feel comfortable emotionally, but she will continue with the show because she loves the show and she loves mentoring the contestants.”

American Idol is currently holding auditions and will returns for its new season in January.

Nicki Minaj & Keith Urban announced as new American Idol judges

American Idol has announced the addition of Nicki Minaj and Keith Urban to the judging panel for Season 12.

The two join Mariah Carey and longtime Idol judge Randy Jackson when the series returns in January.

Host Ryan Seacrest tweeted the news Sunday, posting a photo of the gang (see above) and writing “It's official, your new #IdolJudges are @MariahCarey, @NickiMinaj, @KeithUrban & @Yo_RandyJackson!”

Minaj joined in as well, tweeting, “New York auditions today & tomorrow! See ya there barbz!!!!!!!!!”

The four began their new Idol journey together Sunday in New York; other audition cities include Los Angeles, Chicago, Charlotte, San Antonio, Baton Rouge and Oklahoma City.

Known for her unique performance style and iconic fashion, Minaj became the first female solo artist to have seven singles simultaneously on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

Minaj released her second studio album, “Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded,” in April 2012, which topped charts internationally, and spawned the Top 10 singles “Starships” and “Pound the Alarm.” Since then, the album has sold one million copies worldwide, and has become one of the best-selling albums of 2012, according to Nielsen SoundScan. At the 2012 MTV Video Music Awards, she won Best Female Video for “Starships.” At the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards, she won Best Hip-Hop Video for “Super Bass.”

Nominated for a 2012 Grammy Award in the category of Best New Artist, Minaj’s rapping technique has been hailed by critics for its use of alter-egos, accents (notably, British) and rapid-fire pace. Equally well-known for her unique sense of style, her use of colorful wigs and outlandish costumes ranks her as one of the world’s leading fashion icons. Minaj is in the midst of her Pink Friday: RELOADED Tour.

Urban, one of country music’s biggest stars of the decade, has four Grammy Awards and 14 No. 1 hits, and was named Male Vocal Artist of the Year three times, as well as Entertainer of the Year, by the Country Music Association.
