Coldplay announce 2012 North American tour

Coldplay are coming back to North America.

The band announced the first batch in a series of 2012 shows on Thursday, for a trip that will see the UK group play 21 dates across the continent between April and August.

Given the holes in the schedule, it’s safe to assume there will be more dates announced.

The tour is in support of Coldplay’s latest effort, “Mylo Xyloto.”

Tickets go on general sale on Saturday, 17 December at 10am (local time) from 1-800-745-3000, Ticketmaster.com and LiveNation.com.

Before that, fans can use any American Express card to purchase advance tickets, from Monday, 12 December, at 10am (local time) until Friday, 16 December, at 10pm (local time). The advance AMEX tickets will be available for all shows except Portland and Houston, and tickets for the two LA Bowl shows will not go on sale until January 2012.
